I'm gonna be swallowed whole by that snake there if I don't face my past
Something like a vertebrae or a will has been broken yet even the water stands
As I sit here on the porch and furrow my brows I concentrate on my story
Who knows how I got here but he's not saying a word so I ask Where will I find the truth
And as my answers coil around lifeforms in my front yard I stare toward the steps
A fly buzzes through my house and tries to escape but the screen door is shut
While destinations crowd my view my legs sleep hanging from my chair I can't reach them
That snake glides over my steps and stands like water till it looks me in the eyes
Fluids squeeze through my skin and self-adhesives preserve them like amber as it cools
There's a venom they say that can break this fever Who knows if it works
So I tell Who go stand by the water I'll be right there
My salvation is serpentine and green and may swallow me whole
