1st Stanza
| |
Anger and boredom are a
bad combination.
But is he angry or has he gone crazy?
Some may say he's gone mad.
Others that he's just mean.
He would say cruelty is the mean
Among mankind today. |
2nd Stanza
| |
Do you know what he means?
Has he any less heart
Than your average man?
He means no harm.
He is just mad.
Is that so insane? |
3rd Stanza
| |
Yet another explanation
is he was singed.
Still smoking and blackened and shrunk to fit—
His seams are exhausted.
In this context, they mean his endings.
They were meant for far greater
Than to man controls with no feeling. |
4th Stanza
| |
He has worked like mad
Finding factors to blame.
Meanwhile, he fans flames to defend.
Man to man, though, he's just mad
About diversions that don't work. |
5th Stanza
| |
He has no sense of the
meaning
In the remaining embers.
He knows better than to be mean
Whether it is the mean of man or not.
He simply entertains himself this way when he's bored.
Man, that’s just
crazy. |
